North Carolinians recycle 85.4 pounds of materials a second. But we throw away more than 752 pounds of trash in the same amount of time. At Noah's Landing, we're setting our sights on reducing that gap. In 2009, we're "going green for the globe" and setting a goal to bring more recycling awareness to Harnett County.

Learn more about what we're reusing on the farm, how you can do more at home, and about special green events throughout the year.

"The world around us isn't two-dimensional.. why should learning be?"

- Dora Turner, director

That simple notion - that children should learn with all their senses - is what drives Noah's Landing, a non-profit nature center in Coats, NC. With a menagerie that includes more than 60 species of animals - from kinkajou and coatimundi to African crested porcupines - we teach science and conservation using all the senses.

Visitors can hand carrots to our zebra, get eye to eye with a two-toed sloth, or touch the giant ears of a fennec fox. It's a rare opportunity to get eye to eye with animals from around the globe!
